Wedding Flower Checklist

In this essential wedding flower checklist guide we will list out below all the people and places that you might need wedding flowers for, and on that most precious of days, but of course 99% of people won`t have everything on the list, you just need to decide which ones are right for your wedding and of course budget.

People

Bride
Flower Options:
Shower Bouquet
Handtied shower
Round handtied posy
Falling bouquet
Overarm bouquet
Pomander
The bridal bouquet is of course the most important flower item and for some couples it’s the only item if the budget is very tight.

Groom
Flower Options:
Double Buttonhole
Single Buttonhole

The grooms wedding button hole is made using either one or two flowers chosen from the bridal bouquet and with any other embellishments the bridal posy might have to tie the two together, the ribbon for the bow will also be the same.

Bridesmaids
Flower Options:
Handtied Posies
Handtied Shower
Pomanders
Wrist Corsage
Hair combs

As a rule the bridesmaids will have a smaller version of the bride’s bouquet, although if the bride has gone for a shower bouquet generally the maids will just have round posies to match, but smaller handtied showers can also be made to match.

Flower Girls
Flower Options:
Handtied Posies
Teddy bear Posies
Wands
Pomanders
Wrist Corsage
Alice Bands

As flower girls tend to be younger children their bouquets will be smaller versions of the brides but due to size won`t always have all the flowers used in the bridal bouquet just a small selection but in the same style.

Best Man
Flower Options:
Double Buttonhole
Single Buttonhole

Being the groom’s right hand man the bestman normally has the same style of buttonhole as the groom, although the grooms can be made to stand out a little by adding one or two extra embellishments chosen from the bride’s bouquet.

Ushers
Flower Option:
Single Buttonhole

Although Ushers normally only have a single version of the Grooms buttonhole they can be adorned with some additional embellishments that make them stand out from the rest of the wedding guests.

Matron of Honour/Maid of Honour
Flower Options:
Hand tied Bouquet
Wrist Corsage

The brides matron of honour could have a round hand-tied posy to match the bride or a popular choice would be a matching wrist corsage which frees up the hands to hold the brides flowers or hold the dress or make any last minute touches to the hair or veil as and when needed without having to put her own bouquet down all the time.

Ring Bearer/Page Boy
Flower Option:
Single Buttonhole

As the Pageboy or ring bearer as they are also known are generally young boys they will have a single buttonhole in a matching flower but with less foliage, smaller bow and shorter stem to give the impression the buttonhole is the same as the adult male guests but in proportion to the young boys size.

Throwing (toss) bouquet
Flower Option:
A smaller round hand tied posy similar or matching the bridal bouquet which is thrown over the head by the bride to the awaiting group of unmarried female wedding party guests with the tradition being whichever one catches the posy will be next to get married.

Mother of the Bride/Mother of the Groom
Flower Options:
Double Flower Pin Corsage
Triple Flower Pin Corsage
Wrist Corsage

Down to personal preference this one, but having a very light fabric dress could stop the use of the heavier 3 head corsage or a pin on corsage altogether.

Father of the Bride/Father of the Groom
Flower Options:
Double Buttonhole
Single Buttonhole

Made to match the wedding flowers their son or daughter is having but normally more in the style of the best mans buttonhole than the ushers.

Grandparents
Flower Options:
Double Buttonhole
Single Buttonhole
Pin on Corsage
Wrist Corsage

Wedding guests
Flower options:
Single Buttonhole

A simple single flower buttonhole made normally using the main wedding flower with green leaves, either with or without a ribbon bow.
